PLANTING HOSTAS

Look at your area and decide what size hosta will fit. Hostas range from dwarf (3-6 inches tall) to giant (36-inches) in height. Pick your hosta accordingly.

Think about flower color and time of bloom. You can sequence hosta blooming from mid-July through August. Hosta need some shade, even though a few varieties will survive in all day sun.

What type of foliage do you want?
Variegated, green, blue, gold???
So many decisions, but the end result will be getting the correct hosta.

Think about companion plants. Ask us for a list.

Do not skimp on your hole size. Each hosta should have a prepared whole 24” x 24”. This will insure proper growth in the least amount of time.

Use plenty of peat moss, green sand (ocean sand), grit, compost and a slow-release fertilizer.

Water throughout the growing season – morning or during the day. Avoid late night and evening watering.

Happy Hostaing !!
